HNK Šibenik is a Croatian football club from the city of Šibenik .

history

The football club was founded in 1932 under the name NK Šibenik and with the establishment of the 1st HNL in 1992 it was renamed HNK Šibenik . As a founding member of the new league, the club initially did not rise despite two last places due to the circumstances of the Croatian War. It was not until 2003 that he was relegated to the 2nd HNL . Since 2006, HNK Šibenik has been back in the country's elite league. The club reached the cup final in the 2009/10 season and lost in two games against HNK Hajduk Split. In the 2011/12 season, they were relegated to the 2nd Croatian league after they had only reached 14th place and a year later Šibenik even had to go back to the 3rd HNL , as the club was fourth-placed and received no license.

Stadion

The home stadium is "Šubićevac", named after the district of the same name. Like the Poljud stadium in Split, it was built in 1979 for the Mediterranean Games and served as the venue for the associated football tournament. According to the club, it holds around 10,000 spectators.
