Iwan Michailowitsch Podjomow ( Russian Иван Михайлович Подъёмов , mostly transcribed as Ivan Podyomov ; born April 29, 1986 in Arkhangelsk , Soviet Union ) is a Russian oboist .

Life

He was born in Arkhangelsk, Russia and began his musical education at the age of six at the Gnessin Music Academy in Moscow , studying recorder with Ivan Pushechnikow , with whom he also studied oboe from 1996 until his graduation in 2003. From 2006 to 2011 Ivan Podjomow studied at the Geneva Conservatory with Maurice Bourgue .

In 2009 he made his debut in the Berlin Philharmonic for Deutschlandradio Kultur with the German Symphony Orchestra Berlin . This was followed by recitals and solo concerts in the Auditorium du Louvre in Paris, at the Lucerne Festival , the Salzburg Festival , Festival de Radio France et Montpellier Languedoc-Roussillon, at the Central European Music Festival and the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Festival .

Podjomow has been principal oboist with the Bamberg Symphony since January 2014 .

He has given concerts with various orchestras such as the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra , the Munich Chamber Orchestra , the Collegium Musicum Basel , the Potsdam Chamber Academy , the Pilsen Philharmonic, the Philharmonie Neubrandenburg and the Hof Symphony . As a soloist and chamber musician, Iwan Podjomow has made guest appearances in the Konzerthaus Berlin , the Wiener Konzerthaus , the Rudolfinum Prague , the Herkulessaal and the Prinzregententheater in Munich. He plays at numerous music festivals such as the Prague Spring, the Brandenburg Summer Concerts, the ARD Chamber Music Festival, the Nymphenburg Summer Music Festival and for recordings by broadcasters in Germany , the Czech Republic and Russia. In addition, Ivan Podjomow is regularly invited as the first gastoboist by orchestras such as the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra , the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra or the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Russia, the Russian Philharmonic.

Prizes and awards

Ivan Podjomov has won numerous prizes and music competitions: at the age of eleven, he was the first winner of the Young Musicians of Moscow competition on Russian television. In 1998 he was the winner of the Moscow Young Oboists Competition and the Moscow Woodwind Ensemble Competition as well as the youngest laureate at the Concertino Praga competition. In 2005 he won first prize at the International Rimsky-Korsakov Competition in Saint Petersburg .

He is second prize winner of the ARD International Music Competition in 2007 and 2011 in Munich , winner of the International Music Competition of the Prague Spring Festival in 2008 and the International Oboe Competition in Karuizawa in 2009. He was also awarded the special prizes of the Pro Harmonia Mundi Foundation and the Bohuslav Martinů Foundation . In 2010 Podjomov received the audience award of the international music competition Concours de Genève .
