Jozef Stala

Józef Stala (born December 6, 1966 in Mielec , Poland ) is a Polish Roman Catholic theologian , professor at the Pontifical John Paul II University in Krakow and editor-in-chief of the international scientific periodical " The Person and the Challenges ".

Life

Józef Stala was born on December 6, 1966, the third of four children in Mielec , Subcarpathian Voivodeship , south-east Poland . He is the son of the teacher Edward Stala and the housewife Helena Stala, nee Gajek. On December 18, 1966, Stala was baptized by Pastor Józef Wierzbicki in the parish of St. Nikolaus von Borowa, his home village. The Sacrament of Confirmation was given to him by Bishop Jerzy Karol Ablewicz on April 24, 1980 in Borowa.

From 1973 to 1981 Stala attended the Adam Mickiewicz primary school in Borowa and from 1981 to 1985 the Lyceum in Mielec, a mathematical and physical branch, which he graduated from in 1985 with the Matura . From 1985 to 1991 he studied philosophy and theology , 1985 and 1986 in the Gościkowo Paradise Seminary and 1986 to 1991 in Tarnów .

On May 25, 1991 Stala was ordained a priest in Tarnów Cathedral by Bishop Józef Życiński .

He held his primary mass on May 30, 1991 in the parish church of his hometown Borowa. Immediately after his ordination, Stala worked as chaplain and secretary to Bishop Józef Życiński. From 1991 to 1992 he was vicar in the parish of St. Wojciech , Boleslaw, about 36 kilometers north of Tarnów, and then until 1993 he was vicar in the parish of St. Casimir , Nowy Sącz , about 70 kilometers south of Tarnów.

Scientific activity

On May 31, 1991 Stala completed his studies with a master's degree in theology at the Pontifical Academy of Theology in Krakow (today: Pontifical University John Paul II ). In 1993, Bishop Józef Życiński invited him to do a doctorate at the Catholic Theological Academy in Warsaw . After a special course with a focus on catechesis at the Theological Academy in Warsaw , he obtained his licentiate on May 15, 1995 and his doctorate on June 8, 1998.

Stala completed his habilitation in 2005 with a thesis published in 2004 on the subject: Katecheza o małżeństwie i rodzinie w Polsce po Soborze Watykańskim II ( catechesis in marriage and family in Poland after the 2nd Vatican Council ) at the Pontifical University John Paul II in Krakow . In 2011 he started working on the topic of W kierunku integralnej edukacji religijnej w rodzinie (Próba refleksji nad nauczaniem Jana Pawła II w kontekście polskich uwarunkowań) (Holistic religious education in families (attempt to reflect on the teachings of Pope John Paul II with a view on the situation in Poland)) appointed professor at the Pontifical University of John Paul II in Krakow.

Today (2015) Stala is a priest of the Diocese of Tarnow (Poland), professor of theology (catechetics), holder of the chair of pedagogical catechesis at the Faculty of Theology, Tarnow Section (WTST), of the John Paul II Pontifical University in Cracow. He also works as coordinator of the Erasmus program at the WTST and is editor-in-chief of the international scientific periodical " The Person and the Challenges ".

From 2010 to 2014 Stala was Vice Dean for Scientific Affairs, Development and International Cooperation and at the Faculty of Theology, Tarnow Section (WTST) of the John Paul II Pontifical University in Krakow.

For the period 2014-2020, Stala was elected to the Senate of the Pontifical University of Krakow as Vice-Rector for Science and International Cooperation.
