Jörg Beiderbeck

Jörg Beiderbeck (born October 6, 1946 in Wolfenbüttel , other sources: near Wernigerode ; † August 2, 2015 in Bremen ) was a German shipbuilding engineer in yacht building .

biography

education and profession

Beiderbeck grew up in Wolfenbüttel . In 1966, after graduating from the Theodor-Heuss-Gymnasium Wolfenbüttel , he studied shipbuilding at the Kiel University of Applied Sciences .
After graduating, he worked as a self-employed person since 1979. a. in Tunisia for a Swiss group that wanted to build plastic boats here. After founding a shipyard in Carthage , he came back to Schleswig and worked for the designer Fritz Vertens at the Vertens shipyard. The company was closed in 1985 for lack of successors.

Lürssenwerft

From 1986 to 1996 he worked as chief designer at the Lürssen shipyard in Bremen- Vegesack and Berne- Bardenfleth. Here he expanded the yacht department. Lürssen built around 50 ships in his time and Beiderbeck was the designer of the yachts. The motor yacht Be mine from 1989 is said to have had a defining impact on yacht building and to have had a decisive influence on the international construction of mega yachts at Lürssen. He also worked as a lecturer at the University of Bremen .

independence

In 1979 he founded the Beiderbeck Designs studio in Bremen-Vegesack. The company develops overall concepts and interiors for motor and sailing yachts. The office - in the Alter Speicher on Haven Höövt - has won several international design awards. In 2012 he retired from active business life.

In 2015, after his death, the Beiderbeck Designs studio was continued by his partners Immo Lüdeling and Tim Ulrich. Lüdeling brought in his knowledge of super yachts and Ulrich his experience in designing fast sailing and motor boats.

Boot magazine rates Beiderbeck's work: "He was unreservedly one of the great designers in the mega-yacht world, enjoyed worldwide reputation and recognition from owners, shipyards and colleagues."

Beiderbeck had a partner and two children.
