Jörg Kretzschmar (born December 9, 1964 ) is a former German soccer player .

Stations as a player

Born in Saxony, he wanted to cross the Bulgarian-Greek border in the summer of 1984 in order to leave the GDR via this route . Kretzschmar was picked up by Bulgarian border guards, later brought back to the GDR, where he was sentenced to prison for "attempting to illegally cross the border ". In 1985 he was able to travel to the Federal Republic of Germany when he was released from prison , where the former GDR second division player, who had been trained for a number of years at SG Dynamo Dresden, continued his football career at MTV Hondelage. Kretzschmar later played in the Bundesliga for Borussia Mönchengladbach and in the 2nd Bundesliga for SV Meppen and Hannover 96 . Kretzschmar was part of the Hannover 96 team, which surprisingly won the DFB Cup final against Borussia Mönchengladbach in 1992 as a second division team. Kretzschmar was one of the successful shooters in the final penalty shoot-out for the Hanoverians to win 4-3. He played his first Bundesliga game on August 20, 1988 when he was substituted on in the Mönchengladbach victory over Werder Bremen , his last game as a professional was on May 30, 1993 when he played for Hanover against VfB Oldenburg . In the Bundesliga he played eight games without scoring a goal, in the 2nd Bundesliga he made 113 appearances and two goals for Hanover. In 1992 Kretzschmar came to two European Cup appearances in the Cup Winners' Cup . In 1993 he was reamateurised and only played in amateur clubs. In addition, he completed an apprenticeship as an office clerk in order to prepare for his professional future after football. His last position as an active player was from January 1997 at 1. FC Magdeburg , with whom he was promoted to the third-class Regionalliga Nordost at the end of the season and completed three seasons there.

Stations as a trainer

Then Kretzschmar worked as a trainer in the amateur classes of the Lower Saxony Football Association . One of his most successful stations as a trainer is MTV Ilten, which he took over in winter 2000. After relegation to the district class, Kretzschmar led the Ilten to the district upper league (now the state league) Hanover.
