Jörn Jensen

Jörn Jensen (* 1944 ) is a German former teacher and politician in Berlin .

Life

Career

His family originally comes from Husum , where his father taught sports and German studies . To the army to escape, caught Jensen in 1963 at the Free University of Berlin (FU) Sports and German on teaching study. He wrote his thesis on the descriptions of the Nibelungenlied in relation to geographical and historical reality against the background of the Third Crusade .

In the 1960s, Jensen worked at the Institute for Physical Exercise for new study regulations and a fundamental reform of the subject: "It really was a matter of eliminating the proverbial stench of 1000 years ." Jensen taught, after initially five years of scientific work at the Free University of Berlin and then at the University of Frankfurt , since 1976 at a Neukölln comprehensive school. However, in 1983 Jensen went to China for three years as a lecturer for the German Academic Exchange Service because he did not want to reach retirement age at the school. So he worked there in Wuhan as a German teacher at the University of Wuhan .

Jensen joined the Alternative List for Democracy and Environmental Protection Berlin in 1988 . From 1989 to 1992 he was district councilor in the Steglitz district , from 1992 to 1995 district councilor for public education and from 1995 to 2000 district mayor in the Tiergarten district . During his time as district mayor, on March 4, 1996, he unveiled the plaque of Helene von Schell (1903–1956), one of the Righteous Among the Nations .

Since the end of his term of office, he has spent most of his time in voluntary activities such as in development associations and in the BiwAK and in his party. From 2004 he was responsible for the finances of the district group and until the end of January 2007 he was a member of the GA Mitte. Jensen ran as a member of the Diet Commission in 2014 and 2019.

Jensen is married to his wife Christina Holzkamp. Jensen is the grandfather of four grandchildren.
