history
A Jewish cemetery in Kirn is already mentioned in 1555, the location of which can be traced back to the old field names Auf'm Judenfriedhof , "Judenfriedhof vor Kellenport" (ie in front of the gate towards Kallenfels on today's Kallenfelser Strasse) on the grounds of the Kirner private brewery . Nothing has been preserved from him.
In 1870 a new cemetery was created next to the Christian cemetery on the Schanze , but outside its fence, which was expanded in 1915. 54 tombstones ( mazewot ) are still present in the 10.00 ares large cemetery .
The cemetery was devastated during the National Socialism . Also in the 1990s the cemetery was desecrated several times.
