Hain-Gründau Jewish cemetery
The Jewish cemetery Hain-Gründau was the cemetery for the inhabitants of the Jewish faith in Hain-Gründau , a district of the community of Gründau in the Main-Kinzig district in Hesse .
Geographical location
The Jewish cemetery is at the western end of the village near the entrance to the Christian cemetery. It can only be reached via a private property where there is a staircase.
history
The age of the cemetery is unknown. The Jewish community in Hain-Gründau was very small, the community members without exception lived in modest circumstances. In 1933 three families lived in Hain-Gründau, a short time later they all moved away. In 1936 the community was dissolved and the prayer room was sold. During the Nazi era, the cemetery was destroyed and cleared.
investment
The extraordinarily small cemetery (476 m²) is now surrounded by a wooden fence. After the war, only three gravestones with gable-shaped ends could be erected, two of which no longer have a tablet. Only the gravestone of Lina Hecht (d. 1933) is legible.
