Jürgen Bachmann (architect)

Jürgen Johannes Bachmann (born May 16, 1872 in Nübel ; † January 28, 1951 in Glücksburg ) was a German architect who designed a number of sacred and secular buildings in and around Berlin.

Life

Jürgen Bachmann completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter . He then studied at the building trade school in Eckernförde , where he met his future office partner, Peter Jürgensen . Bachmann then studied architecture from 1894 to 1895 at the Technical University (Berlin-) Charlottenburg , with Jürgen Kröger , Jürgen Vollmer and Johannes Otzen , among others . After completing their studies, Jürgensen and Bachmann worked in Jürgen Kröger's office from 1898 to 1902. In 1903 the two founded the law firm Jürgensen and Bachmann with an office in Charlottenburg . Her office was initially in the house at 104 Schillerstraße, later in the house in Bismarckstraße 97/98. The partnership with Jürgensen ended in 1918, even if some buildings were designed together afterwards. In 1918 Jürgen Bachmann went to the First World War as a soldier .

Jürgen Bachmann was a member of the Free Academy of Urban Development , the Architects and Engineers Association in Berlin , the German Society for Building and the Association of German Architects (BDA).
