Jürgen Geers

Jürgen Geers (* 1947 in Planegg near Munich ) is a German radio play author, dramaturge and director .

Life

After studying theater studies , German and art history , Jürgen Geers came to Bayerischer Rundfunk in 1971 , for which he worked until 1978, when he switched to Hessischer Rundfunk in the same year . Geers is the author and director of numerous radio plays, including a large number of short radio plays a few minutes long, so-called program modules, from the early 2000s. Occasionally he also works as a speaker.

In 1982, together with Inge Kurtz , Der Meinungscontainer - Akustische Graffiti was a project within the framework of the documenta in cooperation with the Hessischer Rundfunk, which was broadcast by various radio stations over a period of 90 minutes. Another joint action was Dear People , a speech contest in which citizens were given the opportunity to express their opinion. The three best speeches were selected by a jury consisting of Walter Jens and the cabaret artist Dieter Hildebrandt . In 1986 all contributions were broadcast on the radio. Between 1994 and 1999 Geers and Kurtz compiled numerous contemporary witness reports from 100 years of German history. This collage, which has won several prizes, was broadcast on November 27, 1999 under the title Unter dem Gras above as a 16-hour broadcast on Hessischer Rundfunk.
