Jürgen Kroth

Jürgen Kroth (born December 11, 1960 in Mülheim-Kärlich ) is a German theologian .

Life

From 1984 he studied practical theology at the KFH Mainz , where he became a qualified religious educator (FH) in 1987. From 1987 he studied Catholic theology at the University of Bonn and from 1988 Catholic theology, philosophy and educational science at the University of Münster , where he completed a doctoral degree with Johann Baptist Metz in 1991 . After receiving his doctorate in 1996 as a Dr. theol. (magna cum laude) (first reviewer: Johann Baptist Metz, second reviewer Jürgen Werbick ) In 1996 he became a pastoral assistant in the diocese of Trier . In 1998 he became a pastoral officer . In 1998 he became the training director for pastoral advisors in the diocese of Trier. In 2000 he became a religion teacher at the Ludwig-Erhard-Schule, vocational schools, Neuwied. In 2005 he received a permanent teaching position for religious education and catechetics at the PTH Vallendar . After his habilitation in 2017 as a Dr. theol. habil. (Reviewers: Heinz-Günther Schöttler , Norbert Mette , Josef Wohlmuth , Thomas Schärtl-Trendel ) and the award of the venia legendi for pastoral theology, he was appointed private lecturer for pastoral theology at the Faculty of Catholic Theology of the University of Regensburg and honorary professor in Vallendar .

His work focuses on basic research in religious education, political theology of sacramental practice, theological theory of action, diakonia as a basic perspective of church action and compassion in theory and practice.

He is married to Melanie Gehenzig and has two children.
