Jürgen Weibler

Jürgen Weibler (born November 14, 1959 in Iserlohn ) is a university professor and has held the chair for business administration , especially human resources management and organization, at the University of Hagen since 1998 .

Life

After graduating from the University of Cologne with a degree in economics, social sciences and psychology , he received his doctorate there in 1988. rer. pole. (Graduate scholarship). He then worked for two years in an international management consultancy as a senior consultant. In 1994 he completed his habilitation at the University of St. Gallen -HSG- (funded by the Swiss National Fund), where he was given the license to teach business administration. Jürgen Weibler was research director at the Institute for Leadership and Human Resource Management (IFPM) for several years and a lecturer at the same university. He then took over the professorship for business administration in public administration / management studies at the University of Konstanz.

In 2005 he was visiting professor at the Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM), Sydney . He then was Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the FernUniversität in Hagen for two years . Jürgen Weibler has been the founding senator of the German Police University since 2006.

Jürgen Weibler has written numerous theory and application-oriented publications, including in renowned national and international magazines, on a wide range of topics in business administration and management. He is also the former editor of the German Journal of Research in Human Resource Management (formerly: Zeitschrift für Personalforschung (ZfP)). He is also a member of the editorial board of the Encyclopedia of Leadership, 4 volumes (published by Sage). He is also co-editor of the series "Leadership and Organization" (at Kohlhammer).

In June 2014, Weibler was appointed by NRW Interior Minister Ralf Jäger ( SPD ) to an expert commission on demographic change in the police in North Rhine-Westphalia . The four-person commission, which, in addition to Weibler, included the then Cologne police chief Wolfgang Albers (member of the SPD), the now retired Münster police chief Hubert Wimber (member of the Greens ) and the district administrator of the Mettmann district Thomas Hendele ( CDU ), submitted its final report a year later (see publication) with proposals for a police reform in NRW. The experts showed various savings potentials, but could not agree on a common model with regard to the police organization .

Since May 2016, he has been promoting the transfer of knowledge from leadership research to leadership practice on leadership-insiders.de.

Research priorities

Theoretical foundation of fundamental questions on selected areas of business administration (management theory) as well as transfer of scientific knowledge into practice. Both quantitative and qualitative methods are used in empirical research . Transfer of scientific knowledge into practice in the context of leadership , organization , human resource management and public management. He is a founding member of GLOBE (Global Leadership and Organizational Behavior Effectiveness), a research network that deals with intercultural differences in leadership.
