Jützenbach is a village in the Thuringian district of Eichsfeld . Since December 1, 2011, the formerly independent municipality has been part of the rural municipality of Sonnenstein .
history
Jützenbach is mentioned for the first time in the Richardis document in 1124 and was one of the monastery villages of the Benedictine Abbey of Gerode Monastery . The sovereign was Kurmainz until the secularization . From 1815 to 1945 the place was then part of the Prussian province of Saxony .
From 1945 Jützenbach was part of the Soviet occupation zone and from 1949 part of the GDR . From 1961 until the turnaround and reunification in 1989/1990, the place was close to the inner-German border. Jützenbach has been part of the newly founded state of Thuringia since 1990.
On December 1, 2011, the community of Jützenbach merged with the seven other communities of the Eichsfeld-Südharz administrative community to form the rural community of Sonnenstein.

Attractions
- Church “St. John the Baptist ”, built in 1907 as a basilica with a transept in neo-Gothic style, the tower, however, is from the beginning of the 14th century. Church with side altars, baroque altar and pieta (from the Gerode monastery church). The baroque altar was made after 1907 from the elements of the altar of the previous church. The angels, the columns and the Johanness bowl are elements of the altar, which was made around 1695. Further elements are located inside the church on the tower.

- numerous listed half-timbered houses in the town center

Jützenbach is on the Bleicherode – Herzberg railway line . This has now been shut down.
