J. Rettenmaier & Söhne ( JRS ) is a German fiber manufacturer based in Rosenberg , Baden-Württemberg .

history

The company was founded in 1878 by Jakob Rettenmaier (1854–1927) when he acquired an oil and grain mill in Rosenberg. In 1938 the industrial production of wood fibers started and in 1949 the first branch in Heilbronn was added. After the name change to "J. Rettenmaier & Söhne OHG ”in 1953, the production of cellulose powder began three years later . New products were developed or existing ones improved. For example, since 1977 the company has been offering cellulose fiber as an alternative to asbestos. The company celebrated its 140th anniversary in 2018 and is known as “J. Rettenmaier & Söhne GmbH and Co. KG ”operates in several countries and employs more than 3000 people.
