Derrick Jabar Gaffney (born December 1, 1980 in San Antonio , Texas ) is a retired American football player . He played on the wide receiver position for the Houston Texans , New England Patriots , Denver Broncos , Washington Redskins and Miami Dolphins in the National Football League .

Career

Gaffney attended the University of Florida and was the first wide receiver there. He was in the second round of the 2002 Houston Texans drafted and played there for three years more or less successfully. In 2006 he moved to the Philadelphia Eagles , but was put on the reserve list after a very poor preseason . During the season he signed a two-year contract with the New England Patriots and plays a lot better there than with the previous teams. In 2009 he moved to the Denver Broncos .
