Jack Pinoteau

Jacques "Jack" Pinoteau (born September 20, 1923 in Clairefontaine-en-Yvelines , † April 6, 2017 in Le Chesnay ) was a French screenwriter and film director . He directed several films, including Treffpunkt Paris , Anton, the ricochet or Caroline and the men over forty .

life and career

Jack (born Jacques) Pinoteau was born in the Yvelines department in 1923 . He was the older brother of Claude Pinoteau, who also became a director, and Arlette Merry. His father Lucien Pinoteau already worked as a production manager for the French film company Pathé .

Jack Pinoteau, who had already gained experience as a small actor in Léo Joannon's film drama Le carrefour des enfants perdus in front of the camera in 1944 , began his actual film career in 1948 as an assistant director to directors such as Marcel Blistène , Jean Stelli , Jacqueline Audry , Henri Lepage and Emil-Edwin Reinert , before he directed his first own film in 1951 with the war drama Treffpunkt Paris . The main role was played by Michel Jourdan who also wrote the script.

In 1957 he made the comedy film Anton, the ricochet in the cast Darry Cowl , Béatrice Altariba and Pierre Mondy . In addition to the comedy specialists Philippe de Broca and Jean Girault , he contributed an episode to the film Five Lucky People in 1963 . It played François Périer , Mireille Darc , Darry Cowl, Pierre Mondy and Louis de Funes .

In 1965 he directed the literary film adaptation Caroline and the men over forty with Dany Saval , Paul Meurisse , Paul Hubschmid and Michel Serrault in the leading roles.

In the 1960s, he also directed episodes of well-known French television series such as: Poly (1961), The Globetrotters (1966) or Maybe helps Fernandel (1967).
