The Jacobs Group , headquartered in Aachen, is a German authorized dealer for the Volkswagen , Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles , Audi , Škoda , Seat and Cupra brands . It is part of the US Penske Automotive Group and has around 1,000 employees at 12 locations between Aachen and Cologne . The company is a training company and is ranked third among the “Excellent Dealers in Germany 2019” in the field of car dealers.

history

In 1922 Adam Jacobs founded Rheinische Motor GmbH in Aachener Reihstraße, the company Adam Jacobs & Son was founded in 1936 by Heinz Jacobs. In 1946 the location in Trierer Strasse was opened. The Fiat / Lancia passenger car agency was taken over in 1966, and Günter Jacobs joined the company in the same year.

In 1986 the company took over the Volkswagen and Audi representation, 10 years later it was the first separate Audi operation in Germany. The Piper car dealership from Aachen Laurensberg was taken over as the next company. The new Audi Center Aachen then opened in 2000.

From 2003 to 2016, further car dealerships were taken over in Aachen, Stolberg , Düren , Übach-Palenberg , Simmerath , Geilenkirchen , Alsdorf , Erkelenz , Eschweiler and in the Rhein-Erft district .

In 2005 the Penske Automotiv Group acquired a stake in the Jacobs Group, and in 2015 the Penske Automotiv Group held the majority stake in the Jacobs Group. In 2017 the Jacobs Group took over the Pedrotti company in Bergheim .

As a result of the restructuring of the company in 2019, the branches in Simmerath and Düren Birkesdorf were sold, the plant in Übach-Palenberg was closed and the branch in Erkelenz was converted into a pure service operation.

In 2019, the groundbreaking took place for a service factory for painting and bodywork as well as smart repair work on an area of ​​5,000 square meters in Aachen.
