Jacqueline Samuda (born October 25, 19 ?? in Ottawa , Ontario ) is a Canadian actress and writer .

life and work

Jacqueline Samuda grew up in Canada and the United States . At the York University in Toronto she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting. She made her stage actress debut at the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake . She received a scholarship from the Ontario Arts Council and then studied in New York City . She lived here from 1987 to 1989 and from 1992 to 1998 in Los Angeles . In 1994 Samuda received the Dramalogue Award for directing George F. Walker's Zastrozzi at the Company of Angels Theater in Los Angeles.

She had her first role on television in 1985 in the Canadian episode film Shock Chamber . She made her debut in an international cinema production in 1989 with a small supporting role in Jack Sholders Renegades with Lou Diamond Phillips and Kiefer Sutherland . So far, Jacqueline Samuda has mainly been seen in supporting roles , with the television film Wilder Days (2003) with Peter Falk and Tim Daly and her appearances as Nirrti in Stargate SG-1 and Stargate: Continuum are among her more well-known roles. Samuda commented on her character the Goa'uld Nirrti in Stargate in an interview: “I loved working on the show. And the unique thing that this work has brought me to my career is being part of the worldwide phenomenon with a legion of fans. I had the opportunity to go to some conventions and meet some of the fans there. That was wonderful. ”Samuda played a recurring role on the television series The L Word , guest appearances on Da Vinci's Inquest , The Seven Million Dollar Woman and in Smallville .

In addition to her work as an actress, Samuda also works as a writer and director. Her works include the short films The Sky's The Limit (2001), LOOK (winner of the ReelFast competition 2002), London Calling (2002) and the 50 Questions (2003), which won an award at the Vancouver International Film Festival . She produced the short films The Poet and Long Time No Seen (both 2003) for the Vancouver Film School Webchannel . She worked as a story editor on the feature film The Delicate Art of Parking (2006) and had previously written the script for an episode of Stargate SG1 . Samuda also works as a voice-over speaker and was a finalist of the Voicey Award 2008. On March 8, 2008, she received the Sharon Gibbon Lifetime Member Award at the Women in Film & TV Vancouver's Spotlight Awards and received for her planned stage adaptation BREAD a $ 100,000 scholarship.

Samuda teaches in the Director's Chair Workshop at the University of Alberta's Banff Center , lectures in writing at the Vancouver Film School and the University of British Columbia . She serves as president of the Canadian Pacific Cinémathèque , as advisor to the organization Women in Film & TV Vancouver and as juror at Canadian film festivals .
