Tim Daly , also Timothy Daly (born March 1, 1956 in New York City , New York as James Timothy Daly ) is an American actor , voice actor and film producer .

life and career

Tim Daly was in the city of New York City in the US state of New York , the youngest child of James Daly , an actor, and Hope Newell born an actress. His sister is the actress Tyne Daly . He studied theater arts and literature at Bennington College , Vermont .

Timothy had his first appearances on television in 1966 at the side of his father in the television film An Enemy of the People . During his studies he was seen in several plays and later on Broadway .

After a guest role in the television series Hill Street Police Station in 1981, his first lead role followed in 1988 in the short-lived series Almost Grown . In the meantime, he starred alongside Steve Guttenberg , Mickey Rourke , Kevin Bacon and Ellen Barkin in the comedy American Diner by Barry Levinson . In 1987 he starred in the miniseries I'll Take Manhattan with Barry Bostwick , Julianne Moore and Adam Storke . In the action comedy The Year of the Comet , he played one of the leading roles alongside Penelope Ann Miller .

From 1990 to 1997, Daly played the lead role, Joe Hackett , in the award-winning television series High Flyer . He then took over the speaking role of the title hero in the cartoon series Superman , as well as in the subsequent films and video games. In 1997 he founded the production company Daly-Harris Productions with J. Todd Harris . In the horror comedy Dr. Jekyll and Ms. Hyde from 1995, Daly starred opposite Sean Young . Both he and Young were nominated for the Golden Raspberry in 1996.

In 2000 the leading role of Dr. Richard Kimble in the television series On the Run - The Hunt Continues . For this role he won the Golden Satellite Award in 2001 , he was also nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award and for the TV Guide Award . For the role in the television drama Edge of America , Daly was nominated for the Daytime Emmy Award in 2006. In the mafia series The Sopranos Daly was seen in the recurring role as JT Dolan and was nominated for an Emmy in 2007 for his performance .

From 2007 to 2012 he played the role of Dr. in Grey's Anatomy - Spin-off Private Practice. Pete Wilder .

Daly has been married to actress Amy Van Nostrand since 1982 and has two children. In 2010 the couple divorced. His sister Glynn is married to the composer Mark Snow . Since December 2014 he has been in a relationship with his colleague Téa Leoni , with whom he portrays the leading actors in the series Madam Secretary .
