Jacquelyn Wagner

Jacquelyn Wagner (* before 1980) is an American opera singer ( soprano ).

Career

Jacquelyn Wagner was born into a musical family, her father worked as a horn player in the Detroit Symphony Orchestra , and her mother encouraged her first singing lessons. She then studied at the Manhattan School of Music and at Oakland University of Michigan .

In 2009 Wagner made his debut in Mozart's Così fan tutte as Fiordiligi at the Opéra du Rhin , but also gave the Contessa Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro at the Frankfurt Opera . Three years later she was Micaëla in Bizet's Carmen at the Deutsche Oper Berlin . As Violetta in Verdi's La traviata , she stepped in at the Vienna Volksoper under the direction of Julia Jones . Her debut in the title role of Puccini's Suor Angelica took place in a new production at the Cologne Opera under the direction of Will Humburg .

Wagner sang the title role of Arabella by Richard Strauss for the first time in 2013 at the Minnesota Opera and in the same year Violetta Valéry in La traviata at the Frankfurt Opera. She sang the title role in Verdi's Giovanna d'Arco in 2014 at the Bonn Opera . In Mozart's Don Giovanni she was initially Donna Elvira at the Opéra de Toulon . In Giacomo Puccini's La Bohème she was cast as Mimi at the Cologne Opera in 2015, at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein Düsseldorf as Arabella and at the Opéra National de Paris as Pamina in Mozart's Magic Flute .

In January 2016, Jacquelyn Wagner sang the role of Donna Anna for the first time in Mozart's Don Giovanni , making her debut at the Bavarian State Opera .

In 2018 she made her debut at the Theater an der Wien in the title role of Weber's opera Euryanthe (conductor: Constantin Trinks ), Christian Thielemann cast her as Eva in the Meistersingers at the Salzburg Easter Festival in 2019 .

Awards

Wagner won numerous international competitions, including a. the Francisco Vinas International Singing Competition, the Renata Tebaldi Singing Competition and the Panasonic Voice Competition in New York at Alice Tully Hall. In 2008 she was a finalist in the Operalia Singing Competition by Plácido Domingo . She has also received scholarships from the Jenny Lind Society and a Fulbright scholarship.
