Jacques d'Ovidio (born March 15, 1921 in France , † 1997 ibid) was a French film architect .

Live and act

D'Ovidio received his artistic training in the 1940s and then began working as an assistant set designer under Robert Giordani , with whom he worked on the film structures for "Monsieur Fabre" (1951), "The baker of Valorgue" (1952), "The hairdresser " (1952), " Public Enemy No. 1 " (1953), " Stopover in Paris " (1954), " The Lazy Man " and " The Great Senechal " (both 1957) - mostly comedies with France's star Fernandel - worked together. Other teachers d'Ovidios were Alexandre Trauner , Robert Clavel , Auguste Capelier , René Renoux and Jean Mandaroux .

In 1960 d'Ovidio began to design film structures on his own. In the following two and a half decades he made a name for himself, especially with his decorations for several ambitious political thrillers such as Z and The Invisible Uprising of Costa-Gavras and for the social drama "Monsieur Dupont" . D'Ovidio also created several sets for Walerian Borowczyk's erotic dramas and for some soft sex clothes such as Die Strandflitzer , a veritable popular success of the late 1970s. In the mid-1980s, Jacques d'Ovidio withdrew from the industry.
