The Jade is a survey ship of the Federal Republic of Germany.

history

The ship was built in 1998. The hull was built under construction number 97/1/2601 at the Jantar shipyard in Kaliningrad , Russia . The keel was laid on May 5, 1998, the launch on November 30, 1998. The ship was equipped by Ms. Fassmer in Berne / Motzen. It was completed in December 1998.

The ship is used by the Wasserstraßen- und Schifffahrtsamt Weser-Jade-Nordsee for sounding the Jade fairway. It is named after the river of the same name in Lower Saxony , which flows into the Jade Bay .

Technical data and equipment

The ship is powered by a six - cylinder four - stroke diesel engine made by Cummins (type: KTA 19 M) with an output of 447  kW . The engine acts on a fixed propeller via a gearbox . The ship reaches a speed of 12  knots .

Two generators with an apparent power of 32.5 kVA each  are available for the power supply . The ship has a bow thruster with 54 kW power.

In 2015, the ship received a new EM2040C fan-out system from Kongsberg Maritime .
