At the end of 2011, Jade Cargo suspended flight operations for the time being due to a lack of demand. In spring 2012 Lufthansa announced that it would sell its stake in Jade Cargo International and exit the joint venture in 2012. A partner initially found for the restructuring also withdrew due to the high expected costs. The company was subsequently wound up.
