Jake Keith David Barker-Daish (born May 7, 1993 in Melbourne ) is an Australian football player .

Career

Born in Melbourne, Barker-Daish moved to the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra in 2009 to receive football support there, having previously trained at the Victorian Institute of Sport . In March 2011, Barker-Daish signed his first professional contract after the coach of Gold Coast United , Miron Bleiberg could convince them of his ability. The midfielder made his professional debut on February 17, 2012, as part of what was then the youngest team in the history of the A-League . In addition to Barker-Daish, 17-year-old Mitch Cooper made his debut in the game against Melbourne Heart (final score 0: 1) , who was quickly made team captain. The owner of Gold Coast United, Clive Palmer , was subsequently revoked and the team ended the season under the responsibility of the Australian Football Association before the team was disbanded at the end of the season. Barker-Daish then moved, as did his teammate Daniel Bowles , within the league to Adelaide United .

In his first season with Adelaide, the midfielder under coach John Kosmina , also because of injuries and absences from appointments in Australian national teams, hardly got a chance. It was not until Kosmina's successor, interim coach Michael Valkanis , that Barker-Daish was in the starting line-up for the last four days of the 2012/13 season and was also used in the final against Brisbane Roar (final score 1: 2). In the following season under coach Josep Gombau , Barker-Daish did not get beyond the role of the supplementary player and was only in the starting line-up in one of his eight season appearances, in the competition for the places in the central midfield he mostly had against Marcelo Carrusca , Isaías , Cameron Watson and Steven Lustica left behind. At the end of the 2013/14 season , his contract was not renewed and he left the club after 19 appearances in two years.

During the break of the season he was a test player with the Western Sydney Wanderers , but there was no commitment. In autumn 2014, Barker-Daish, son of an English mother with ancestors from Barbados and an Australian father, was active several times for English ninth division club Colne FC .

In 2011, Barker-Daish was the youngest player in the squad for the Australian U-20 team at the U-20 World Cup in Colombia, but was not used in the preliminary round. In early 2014, Barker-Daish took part with the Australian U-23 selection at the U-22 Asian Cup in Oman and played all three preliminary round games. In the 1: 2 defeat in the quarterfinals against Saudi Arabia, he was not involved. He had previously participated in the associated qualification tournament in Indonesia in July 2012.
