Jake Dotchin (born March 24, 1994 in Cambridge , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the St. Louis Blues of the National Hockey League since July 2019 and for their farm team , the San Antonio Rampage , in the American Hockey League plays on the position of defender .

Career

Dotchin spent his junior years at the beginning of the 2011/12 season at the Owen Sound Attack in the Ontario Hockey League , after he had previously played in the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League only in the junior division. The defender stayed with the team until January 2013, when he was transferred to title contender Barrie Colts . With the team he was defeated in the same year by the London Knights in the final series of the J. Ross Robertson Cup .

After the defender had already been selected in the sixth round in the sixth round in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft by the Tampa Bay Lightning from the National Hockey League , he signed his first professional contract there in April 2014. Until mid-January 2017 he was there exclusively for Tampa's farm team , the Syracuse Crunch , in the American Hockey League , before he was appointed to the NHL squad for the Lightning for the first time and made his debut in the NHL.

In September 2018, his contract was terminated by the Lightning. According to media reports, he appeared clearly overweight from the off-season to prepare for the season. In mid-October he found a new employer in the Anaheim Ducks and received a contract there until the end of the 2018/19 season. Also as a free agent , he will join the St. Louis Blues in July 2019 .
