Jakob August Heer
Jakob August Heer (born June 7, 1867 in Basel , † March 7, 1922 in Arlesheim ) was a Swiss sculptor and medalist .
Live and act
Jakob Heer, son of Jakob Heer von Reineck SG and Anna Maria Gürtler, married Auguste Pauline Franziska Reissig von Plötzkau , Duchy of Anhalt, in 1898 , and Franziska Sporner von Munich in 1907 . In 1887 he began drawing lessons at the trade school in Munich, from 1888 to 1891 he studied at the Art Academy in Berlin with Albert Wolff and at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris with Alexandre Falguière .
From 1892 on, Heer worked in Basel, later in Munich, Geneva and Berlin. In Munich he was in contact with the Luitpold group and the artist society Allotria . From 1900 Heer worked in his own studio in Arlesheim. From 1895 to 1896, Heer worked in Geneva with decorative work for the then Swiss National Exhibition .
Heer became known for powerful sculptures and sculptures and created monuments of artists, members of the authorities and other people. He also made architectural sculptures and portraits in plaster of paris, marble and bronze as well as terracotta figures.
From 1894 he took part in exhibitions in Switzerland and Germany; In 1909 he was awarded a gold medal at the art exhibition in the Munich Glass Palace . In 1914 Heer received a gold medal at the Swiss National Exhibition in 1914 for the fountain sculpture Flora, which stood under a round pillar canopy designed by the Bernese architect Otto Roos. The fountain has been in the Florapark Bern since 1915 . Roos wrote an obituary for the army.
In 1923 the Basler Kunstverein organized an exhibition on the work of Jakob August Heer and in 1986 a commemorative exhibition took place in the Trotte local museum in Arlesheim.
