Jakob Fenk

Jakob Fenk (born June 6, 1879 in Sennwald ; † August 10, 1968 in Altstätten ), reformed , resident in Altstätten, was a Swiss politician ( FDP / SP ).

biography

Jakob Fenk, son of the farmer Johann Jakob Fenk, worked as a surveyor at the municipal forest office in St. Gallen after attending school in Sennwald-Frümsen . After Fenk had completed his training as a forester , he was employed as a district forester in the Sennwald-Lienz-Rüthi forest district from 1899 to 1935. In addition, he ran an agricultural business. Jakob Fenk was married to Anna, the daughter of Johann Ulrich Leuener. He died in 1968 two months after he had turned 89 in Altstätten.

Jakob Fenk, initially a member of the Liberal Democratic Party, joined the Social Democratic Party in 1918. He represented his party in the St. Gallen Grand Council from 1918 to 1948, and in 1925 he was elected to the National Council, of which he was a member until 1947. These officiated Fenk 1942-1948 as mayor of Mountain Forest, where he, as well as in the District Werdenberg held numerous political offices. Jakob Fenk, who was made an honorary citizen of Sennwald in 1962, was politically committed to the concerns of the rural population, especially those of the smallholders.
