James Blaylock
James Paul Blaylock (born September 20, 1950 in Long Beach , California ) is an American SF and fantasy author . He also writes with Tim Powers under the pseudonym William Ashbless .
Life
Blaylock studied English at California State University in Fullerton . There he got to know KW Jeter and Tim Powers and made contact with the SF author Philip K. Dick . There was a lively collaboration with Powers, with whom he wrote several stories together. Blaylock now lives in Orange County, California , where he is the director of the Creative Writing Conservatory at Orange County High School of the Arts , where Tim Powers also works.
In 1986 and 1997 he won the World Fantasy Award for the best short story category .
