James J. Murakami

James J. Murakami (born before 1973) is a production designer , prop master and art director .

Life

Murakami began his career on the film staff in 1973 as an assistant in the outdoor prop without naming credits in the literary film adaptation of Tom Sawyer's Adventure . In the course of time he worked his way up to art director, where he worked on major Hollywood productions such as WarGames - War Games , Beverly Hills Cop - I'll definitely solve the case and Crimson Tide - In Deepest Danger . 1992 saw his first collaboration with Clint Eastwood on Merciless , until 2016 Murakami was in charge of the production design for a total of eleven directorial works by Eastwood, including Letters from Iwo Jima , Gran Torino and Sully . In addition to his work in film, Murakami has occasionally worked for television, for example in the television series Kampfstern Galactica and Deadwood . For the latter series he was nominated for the Primetime Emmy in 2004 and 2005 , which he won in 2005.

Clint Eastwood's thriller Changeling he was together with Gary Fettis 2009 for the Oscar in the category Best Art Direction and the BAFTA Film Award in the category Best Art Direction nomination, but both awards went this year to The Curious Case of Benjamin Button .
