James K. Pollock
James Kerr Pollock (born May 25, 1898 in New Castle , Pennsylvania , † October 7, 1968 in Ann Arbor , Michigan ) was an American political scientist.
Career
Pollock studied at the University of Michigan and Harvard , where he received his Dr. phil. PhD. From 1921 on he taught history and politics at Geneva College , and from 1923 to 1925 political science at Ohio State University . In 1925 he returned as a lecturer at the University of Michigan and was made an associate professor there in 1927. From 1934 until his death he held a chair for constitutional law there. Pollock received several honorary doctorate hats. He was a member of the Republicans .
In 1935 he was named election commissioner for the USA in the referendum in the Saar region . After the end of the Second World War he was a direct employee of the military governor General Lucius D. Clay in the American zone of occupation in Germany and in this function he was the founder of the southern German state council in Stuttgart. In 1950 he returned to the Federal Republic again and was an advisor to the High Commissioner John Jay McCloy .
