James Koskei

James Koskei (born November 23, 1968 in Uasin Gishu District ) is a Kenyan long-distance runner .

At the 1999 World Cross Country Championships he was fifth on the short distance and won gold with the Kenyan team.

At his premiere over the 42.195 km distance, the 2004 Chicago Marathon , he covered the first half in 1:03:42 h, but then broke down and only finished 18th in 2:18:40 h. At the Dubai Marathon 2007 he was ninth with his personal best of 2:14:02 h.

Shortly thereafter, he achieved his best result so far in a major marathon when he finished fourth in 2:15:05 hours at the Boston Marathon in stormy conditions. In 2008 he finished ninth in the same position.

Koskei is a former soccer player. He joined the Kenyan Army's running team in 1995. He is married, has three children and is looked after by the German trainer Dieter Hogen .
