Jan Peter "Janne" Karlsson (born May 30, 1964 in Kiruna ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player and current coach and functionary. Since October 2012 he has been under contract as head coach at Karlskrona HK from HockeyAllsvenskan .

Career

Janne Karlsson began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Kiruna AIF , for whose professional team he made his debut in the then second-rate Division 1 in the 1980/81 season . For the 1982/83 season , the defender moved to MoDo AIK from the Elitserien . With the team he rose in the 1983/84 season to Division 1, but achieved immediate promotion with MoDo AIK in the following season . For the 1987/88 season, the former junior international moved to the second division Västerås IK , with whom he immediately succeeded in promotion to the Elitserien. Following the 1991/92 season , he temporarily ended his active career, but ran in the 1995/96 season again in 19 games for the second division Huddinge IK .

From 2003 to 2005 Karlsson was head coach for IF Björklöven in the new second Swedish division, HockeyAllsvenskan . Then he was general manager of the club for a year and a half before he took over the position of head coach at Mörrums GoIS IK from the meanwhile third-class Division 1 during the 2006/07 season . For the 2007/08 season he was head coach at the second division Växjö Lakers Hockey , which he led to promotion to the Elitserien in the 2010/11 season .

In October 2012, Karlsson was fired from the Lakers management team and a few days later he took over the coaching position at the second division club Karlskrona HK .

International

For Sweden , Karlsson took part in the U18 Junior European Championship in 1982 and the U20 Junior World Championships in 1983 and 1984 . At the U18 European Championship in 1982, he and his team won the gold medal.
