Jarhead 2 - Back to Hell is a feature film from the year 2014 .
action
The action takes place during the war in Afghanistan , in which the USA participated between 2001 and 2014: the experienced sergeant Chris Merrimette is serving as part of a supply command in Taliban-occupied Afghanistan. His superior offers him a vacant position as a squad leader. Merrimette's first assignment is to lead a supply force. This comes under fire from the Taliban in the desert, all vehicles are destroyed and several soldiers die. On the way to a US Army camp, the rest of the troop met a soldier of the United States Navy SEALs , who was protecting an Afghan freedom and resistance fighter and had previously been attacked by Taliban members, killing several SEALs. From now on it is their common task to free the freedom and resistance fighter from the enemy territory and to bring them to the US base unharmed. In another Taliban attack, the attackers manage to arrest the freedom and resistance fighter. The US soldiers then start a rescue operation, with several soldiers again falling in the battle. They succeed in liberation, but only two soldiers survive, Merrimette and Allen.

criticism
"The reference to Sam Mendes'" Jarhead "suggested in the film title is misleading: Instead of meditating on the enervating wait for the attack, the war is played down here as a great adventure."
Remarks
- In February 2016, another sequel entitled Jarhead 3 - The Siege in German-speaking countries was published. It is again a direct-to-video production. The director took William Kaufman .
