Jason Moore (Director)

Jason Moore (born October 22, 1970 in Fayetteville , Arkansas , United States ) is an American director and film producer .

Life

Moore graduated with a Bachelor of Science in performance studies from Northwestern University .

He gained his first experience on Broadway as Resident Director in the production of Les Misérables at the Imperial Theater.

From March 2003 Moore directed the musical Avenue Q , which first opened at the off-Broadway Vineyard Theater and moved to the John Golden Theater on Broadway in July 2003. At the 2004 Tony Awards , Moore was nominated for Avenue Q in the Best Musical Direction category, but lost to Joe Mantello (for Assassins ). Moore also directed productions for the play in Las Vegas and London.

He then directed the Broadway revival of Steel Magnolias (2005) and Shrek the Musical (2008).

After various television productions, Moore first directed a feature film in the musical comedy Pitch Perfect .
