Rüesch made his debut in the World Cup on December 13, 2014 in Davos , where he finished 54th over 15 km classic and 74th in the sprint. A week later he started in Hochfilzen for the first time in the Alpencup , where Rüesch was 43rd in the sprint and over 10 km classic and 47th over 10 km freestyle. He achieved his first point placement in the Alpine Cup in January 2015 with a 15th place over 15 km freestyle in Oberwiesenthal . In March 2015 he finished fourth in the Engadin Skimarathon . At his next start in the World Cup in December 2015 in Davos, Rüesch finished 44th in the 30 km freestyle. In January 2016, Rüesch won silver at the Swiss championships over 15 km classic in Zweisimmen and won the championship title in the following 15 km freestyle pursuit race. At the subsequent start at the World Cup in Nové Město , he missed the points as 32nd over 15 km freestyle. In February 2016, Rüesch placed fourth at the Alpencup in Campra for the first time in the top five over 15 km freestyle. At the beginning of March 2016 he won the 15 km classic race at the Alpine Cup on the Arber and came third in the 30 km freestyle mass start. He finished the season in fifth place in the overall ranking of the Alpine Cup. In the 2016/17 season he got his first World Cup points in Ulricehamn with 15th place in the 15 km freestyle. At the beginning of February 2017, at the U23 World Championships 2017 in Soldier Hollow, he achieved 12th place over 15 km freestyle and fifth place in the skiathlon. At the highlight of the season, the Nordic World Ski Championships 2017 in Lahti , he finished 25th in the skiathlon and fourth in the relay. In March 2017 he came in third place in the mini tour in the Alpencup in Seefeld in Tyrol and thus reached 16th place in the overall ranking. At the Swiss Championships 2017 in Val Müstair , he was champion in the 15 km freestyle and pursuit. He also won bronze in the sprint and over 50 km classic and silver in the team sprint. In February 2019 he finished 47th in the sprint at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld in Tyrol. After finishing 52nd in the Ruka Triple at the start of the 2019/20 season, he finished 40th in the Tour de Ski 2019/20 and 33rd in the ski tour. At the beginning of March 2020 in Lahti, he achieved second place in the relay, his first podium in the World Cup.
