history

The place was mentioned in 1783 in the book Beytrage describing Silesia as a Habicht and Jastrzomb , belonged to a Herr von Köhler and was in the rulership of Cosel of the Principality of Opole . At that time it had 122 inhabitants, no farmers, 26 gardeners and a few cottagers. In 1865 Habicht consisted of a manor and a village. The manor owned a spirit distillery. At that time, the place had 34 gardener jobs and five cottager jobs, as well as a Kretscham (restaurant). The church and school were in Grzendzin .

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 167 people eligible to vote locally voted for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and 22 for membership in Poland. Habicht remained with the German Empire after the division of Upper Silesia . On January 1, 1927, Habicht and Gut Habicht were incorporated into the district of Ratibor by the district of Cosel . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Ratibor .

In 1945 the formerly German town came under Polish administration and was then attached to the Silesian Voivodeship and renamed the Polish Jastrzębie . In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship. In 1975 the place came to the Katowice Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the re-established powiat Raciborski and the Silesian Voivodeship.
