Sławików (German Slawikau ) is a village in Upper Silesia . Administratively, it is located in the municipality of Rudnik in the Raciborski powiat ( Racibórz district) in the Silesian Voivodeship .

Sławików is seven kilometers northeast of the township seat Rudnik , twelve kilometers north of the district town of Racibórz (Ratibor) and 56 kilometers west of the voivodeship capital Katowice .

history

The place was created in the 13th century at the latest. In 1223 the place was first mentioned in a document as "Zlavicovo". The Breslau bishop Lorenz (Laurentius) consecrated the church in Slawikau this year. The village was owned by a Count Werner.

The place was mentioned in 1784 in the book Beytrage for the description of Silesia as Slawickau , belonged to a Herr von Drechsler and was in the principality of Ratibor. At that time he had 307 inhabitants, a Vorwerk , a church, a school, five peasants, 44 gardeners and four Häusler. In 1865 Slawikau consisted of a manor and a village. At that time the place had five farms, 45 gardeners and 31 cottagers, as well as tailors, shoemakers, bricklayers, blacksmiths and wood cutters. At that time the school had 300 students.

In the referendum in Upper Silesia on March 20, 1921, 153 voters locally voted for Upper Silesia to remain with Germany and 181 for membership of Poland. At Gut Slawikau, 102 voted for Germany and seven for Poland. Slawikau remained with the German Empire after the division of Upper Silesia . In 1936 the place was renamed Bergkirch as part of a wave of renaming during the Nazi era . Until 1945 the place was in the district of Ratibor .

In 1945 the previously German town came under Polish administration and was then attached to the Silesian Voivodeship and renamed the Polish Sławików . In 1950 the place came to the Opole Voivodeship. In 1975 the place came to the Katowice Voivodeship. In 1999 the place came to the re-established powiat Raciborski and the Silesian Voivodeship.
