Javier Sylvester Martina (born February 1, 1987 in Willemstad , Curaçao , Netherlands Antilles ) is a Dutch football player .

Career

societies

After youth positions at SV Bijlmer , Amstelveen Heemraad and FC Omniworld , the Curaçao- born striker joined Ajax Amsterdam in 2005 . Although he was then mainly used in the reserve team, he extended his contract with the club in April 2007. For the 2008/09 season coach Marco van Basten then brought him into the club's professional squad, for whom he made his debut on November 1, 2008 (9th matchday) in a 2-0 win in the away game against FC Twente Enschede in the Eredivisie . Ultimately, however, he could not assert himself at the club and wanted to leave the club in summer 2009, but did not find a new employer until the end of the summer transfer period .

On January 15, 2010 Martina left Ajax on loan and joined the second division club HFC Haarlem , which was in financial difficulties . However, ten days later, the club was insolvent and he returned - after playing for the new club - along with other loan players back to Ajax, who then looked for new clubs. As a result, he played for the reserve team Jong Ajax . In February 2011 Martina followed a call from coach Aron Winter to his Toronto FC , where he initially played a few preparatory games without a contract.

On March 9, Martina officially moved to the Canadian first division , for whom he made her debut on March 19, 2011 (1st matchday), in the 2: 4 defeat in the away game against the "Whitecaps" from Vancouver . On March 26, 2011 (2nd matchday) he scored his first two goals (14th, 70th minute) in the MLS in a 2-0 home win against the Portland Timbers . Martina was released at the end of the season.

National team

Martina was a player in the Dutch U-19 and U-20 national team for two years ; with the latter he took part in the 2007 Toulon tournament.

After Martina was called up in August 2011 for the two qualifying matches for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil against Antigua and Barbuda on September 2 and against Haiti on September 6, 2011, he finally made her debut on September 6 in Willemstad in the 2: 4 defeat against the choice of Haiti. He was also used in the second leg of qualifying for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil , on October 11, 2011 in Port-au-Prince , in a 2-2 draw.
