Lorenz Wilhelm von Haselberg , also Laurentius Wilhelm , ennobled in 1810 (* December 15, 1764 in Greifswald ; † January 9, 1844 ibid) was a German doctor and professor at the University of Greifswald .

Life

Lorenz Wilhelm Haselberg was the son of the Land Syndikus Peter Matthias Haselberg (1712–1780) and his wife Amalia, daughter of the theologian Laurentius Stenzler . He attended the large city school and studied from 1780 to 1782 in Greifswald with Carl Friedrich Rehfeld, Christian Ehrenfried Weigel and Bernhard Christian Otto. He then continued his studies until 1784 at the University of Göttingen with August Gottlieb Richter and Johann Friedrich Blumenbach . After receiving his doctorate in Göttingen in early 1785 , he made several trips to Vienna and Paris . In 1786 he completed his habilitation in Greifswald, where he became an adjunct at the end of June 1788 and, at the age of 24, a full professor of drug learning in November of the same year. He taught surgery , obstetrics and ophthalmology and was considered a reliable diagnostician . He also dealt with forensic medicine and hygiene . In 1789 he became an assessor and was director of the health college from 1806 to 1818. In addition, he was city ​​physician of Greifswald from 1795 to 1818 .

Haselberg received the title of Royal Swedish Archiatrist in 1799 . In 1806 he was made a knight of the Wasa Order. On November 12, 1810, he and his brother Gabriel Peter von Haselberg were raised to the hereditary Swedish nobility.

In 1821 he retired from his academic positions, but continued to work as a doctor. He was on good terms with the Swedish and Prussian courts.
