Jean-Claude Colliard (* 15. March 1946 in Paris ; † 27. March 2014 ) was a French lawyer , university professor and executive officer , among others from 1998 to 2007. Member of the Constitutional Court ( Court constitutionnel ) was.

Life

Studies, lecturer and professor

After attending the Lycée Champollion in Grenoble and the Lycée Henri IV in Paris, Colliard completed a degree in political science and law at the University of Paris , which he initially graduated with a Diplômé d'études supérieures de science politique . He also studied at the renowned Institute for Political Studies SciencesPo ( Institut d'études politiques de Paris ) , from which he also graduated with a diploma. He then began his professional career in 1968 as a research assistant at the law faculty of the University of Paris and the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne , which emerged from it in 1971 , where he became a lecturer (Maître de conférences) in 1973 .

After completing postgraduate studies in public law , Colliard obtained a Diplômé d'études supérieures de droit public and a doctorate in law . In 1974 he then accepted a professorship at the regional administrative institute IRA (Institut régional d'administration) in Nantes and taught there until 1980 and also as a lecturer at SciencesPo from 1975 to 1981. In 1980 he followed the call to a professorship at the University of Nantes , where he was also Dean of the Faculty of Law and Political Science between 1980 and 1982 .

In 1981, Colliard first became Vice-Head of Cabinet of President François Mitterrand and was then Head of Cabinet of the President between 1982 and the end of his first term in 1988. In addition, he accepted a professorship at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in 1985.

He then took over the position of Head of Cabinet of the President of the National Assembly Laurent Fabius in 1988 and held this position until 1992.

In addition to his teaching activities, he also became director of the Political Science Department at the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne in 1995.

On February 21, 1998, Colliard was nominated by the President of the National Assembly, Laurent Fabius, for a nine-year term as a member of the Constitutional Court, the Court constitutionnel . He held this position from March 3, 1998 to March 3, 2007.

He was then President of the Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne between 2009 and 2012 and, most recently, President of the HeSam Université from June 2012 until his death .

For his many years of service, Colliard was appointed commander of the Legion of Honor and was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Ordre des Palmes Académiques . He died on March 27, 2014 at the age of 68.
