Jean-Marie-Pierre-François Dorsenne, comte le Paige (born April 30, 1773 in Ardres , Pas-de-Calais department , † July 24, 1812 in Paris ) was a French general de division of the infantry ( Garde impériale ).

In 1791 Dorsenne joined the army , enthusiastic about the ideas of the revolution . He was soon able to excel in several battles and was wounded several times.

With the rank of captain he came to the Armée d'Italie and was noticed by General Napoléon when the army had to cross the Tagliamento on March 16, 1797 . A short time later, the latter brought him to his staff with the rank of chief de bataillon .

When Napoleon was planning his invasion of Egypt the following year , Dorsenne volunteered. Dorsenne fought in several battles and was wounded several times. When Napoleon set up the Imperial Guard in 1805, he entrusted Dorsenne with its leadership. With the rank of colonel , he led this guard in the battle of Austerlitz (December 2, 1805) and was promoted to Général de brigade because of his bravery . As such, he took over the leadership of the Grenadiers à cheval de la Garde impériale the following year and fought in the Battle of Preussisch Eylau (7/8 February 1807).

A short time later, Napoleon ordered him back to Spain, where Dorsenne was installed as military governor of Burgos and later also of Vieille-Castille . When Maréchal Jean-Baptiste Bessières was transferred on July 25, 1811 , Dorsenne took over his previous duties.
