Jeannette Wopperer (* 25. April 1967 in Freiburg ) is a former Regional Director of the Association Region Stuttgart and politician of the CDU .

life and career

Wopperer studied architecture and urban planning in Karlsruhe and Zurich . After graduating as Dipl.-Ing. she went to the higher civil engineering administration service in the state of Baden-Württemberg and in 1996 became government master builder for urban development, spatial planning and regional planning. She then worked as an urban planner in Lörrach and from 1999 to 2006 as a full-time assistant for construction and transport in Worms .

In 1984 Wopperer joined the Junge Union and in 1999 the CDU. From 2006 to 2009 she was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament . There she was u. a. Member of the interior committee and spokeswoman for the CDU parliamentary group in the area of ​​regional planning and gender equality issues as well as member of the study commission on climate change. In addition, she was deputy chairwoman of the Europa-Union Rheinland-Pfalz from 2007 to 2009 .

On March 23, 2009, Jeannette Wopperer was elected by the regional assembly of the Stuttgart Region Association to succeed Bernd Steinacher as regional director. She took office on June 15, 2009. In 2011 she was elected spokeswoman for the Initiative Group of German Metropolitan Regions. From 2010 to 2012 she was Vice President of METREX , an association of European metropolitan regions. On July 1, 2013, she was retired for health reasons.
