Jeff Hoggan (born February 1, 1978 in Hope , British Columbia ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player . The winger completed 107 games for the St. Louis Blues , Boston Bruins and Phoenix Coyotes in the National Hockey League , but spent most of his career in the minor league .

Career

Jeff Hoggan began his career as a hockey player with the junior team Powell River Kings, for which he was active in the 1997/98 season in the British Columbia Hockey League . From 1999 to 2002 he attended the University of Nebraska at Omaha , for whose ice hockey team he played parallel in the National Collegiate Athletic Association . There he was able to convince especially in his last year, in which he was assistant captain of his team and in which he was elected to the first All-Star Team of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association , as well as the second All-American Team of the Western Conference of the NCAA has been. In April 2002 he received a try-out contract with the Houston Eros from the American Hockey League , where he ended the 2001/02 season. In August of the same year he also signed a contract as a free agent with Houston's cooperation partner Minnesota Wild , but was also only used for the Eros in the AHL in the following two seasons.

The 2004/05 season Hoggan spent with the Worcester IceCats in the AHL. The National Hockey League suspended this season due to a lockout and after resumption of play, the left-handed shooter also received a contract with the St. Louis Blues , whose farm team were the IceCats. At the Blues he was able to fight for a regular place straight away in the 2005/06 season and scored two goals and six assists in 52 games. The following season he moved within the NHL to the Boston Bruins , where he was also regularly used in the NHL in his first year, while he ran parallel for their AHL farm team Providence Bruins . In the 2007/08 season he was only once for Boston in the NHL on the ice, but was able to convince their farm team from Providence with 67 scorer points, including 32 goals, in 76 games.

From 2008 to 2010 Hoggan played for the San Antonio Rampage in the AHL, where he was also team captain in the 2009/10 season . In addition, he came to a total of eight missions for their cooperation partner Phoenix Coyotes in the NHL during this period . For the 2010/11 season , the Canadian moved to the Grizzly Adams Wolfsburg from the German Ice Hockey League . For the following season , Hoggan received a contract with the Hannover Scorpions and scored 28 scorer points in 43 games. To keep his chance to get another contract in the NHL, Hoggan moved to the AHL club Grand Rapids Griffins , the farm team of the Detroit Red Wings, after only two seasons in the German Ice Hockey League .

There he won the Calder Cup in 2013 and the Fred T. Hunt Memorial Award in 2015 . For the 2016/17 season, he moved to the Iowa Wild , before he declared his active career over.
