Jeffrey "Jeff" Dunston Zients (born November 12, 1966 ) is an American CEO , business consultant and entrepreneur.

On January 17, 2012, Zients was appointed Managing Director of the Office of Management and Budget and took office on January 27, 2012. In 2009, President Barack Obama named him the first Chief Performance Officer of the United States, and he was confirmed by the Senate as deputy director of the Office of Management and Budget in the United States federal government.

In October 2013, Zients received an order from President Obama to get the healthcare.gov website up and running. By the end of November, the central information and registration center for the US healthcare reform was stabilized. Zients announced that he will be leaving the service on January 1, 2014 for personal reasons. On March 5, 2014, he succeeded Gene Sperling as Director of the National Economic Council. He held this post until the end of President Obama's tenure in January 2017; then it fell to Gary Cohn .
