Charles John Zwick (born July 17, 1926 in Plantsville , a neighborhood of Southington , Connecticut ; † April 20, 2018 in Coral Gables , Florida ) was an American economic manager , bank manager and government official who served as director of the Office of from 1968 to 1969 Management and Budget (OMB) was.

Life

Zwick, son of Louis Christian Zwick and his wife Mabel Rich Zwick, did military service in the US Army from 1946 to 1947 after attending school and then began studying agriculture at the University of Connecticut , which he obtained in 1950 with a Bachelor of Science (BS Agricultural Economics) ended. A subsequent postgraduate course at the University of Connecticut he completed in 1951 with a Master of Science (MS) and then worked as a lecturer at the University of Connecticut. After earning a Doctor of Philosophy ( Ph.D. in Economics) from Harvard University in 1954, he taught at Harvard University between 1954 and 1956. He was then head of the logistics department of the Research and Development Corporation from 1956 to 1963 and a member of the Research Council between 1963 and 1965 .

In 1965, Zwick moved to the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), where he was initially Assistant Director and was appointed Director of the Office of Management and Budget by US President Lyndon B. Johnson on January 29, 1968 to succeed Charles Schultze . He held this office until the end of Johnson's tenure on January 21, 1969.

Zwick then moved into the private sector and in 1969 became President of the Miami- based Southeast Banking Corporation , of which he became Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chairman of the Board of Management in 1982. He has also served as CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Southeast Bank NA and a board member of Manville Corporation , the Southeast Mortgage Company, and the Southern Bell Telephone & Telephone Company .

Zwick married Joan Wallace Cameron on June 21, 1952. From this marriage the son Robert Louis Zwick and the daughter Janet Ellen Zwick were born.
