James Allen "Jim" Nussle (born June 27, 1960 in Des Moines , Iowa ) is an American politician . Between 1991 and 2007 he represented the state of Iowa in the US House of Representatives . From 2007 to 2009 he was the director of the Office of Management and Budget to the Cabinet of the United States of.

Career

After attending elementary school and Luther College in Decorah , which he graduated from 1983, Jim Nussle studied law at Drake University in Des Moines until 1985 . Then he started to work in his new profession. Between 1986 and 1990 he was a District Attorney in Delaware County .

Nussle became a member of the Republican Party and was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in 1990 as its candidate in the second constituency of Iowa . There he took over from Tom Tauke on January 3, 1991 . After seven re-elections, he was able to complete eight consecutive terms in Congress by January 3, 2007 . Since 2003 he has represented the first district as the successor to Jim Leach . In practice, however, it was just a renumbering of the constituencies in Iowa. From 2001 to 2007 Nussle was chairman of the budget committee. In Congress, his voting behavior was considered to be rather conservative. In 2006 he decided not to run again.

Also in 2006, he ran unsuccessfully for governor of Iowa. Between 2007 and 2009, he succeeded Rob Portman as director of the budgetary authority in the cabinet of US President George W. Bush . After the end of its reign Jim Nussle founded the Nussle Group , a consulting firm active in many areas in Alexandria ( Virginia ) and Manchester is established (Iowa). Since 2001 he has been married to the successful businesswoman Karen Chiccehitto for the second time. Jim Nussle lives in Manchester.
