William Henry Mills Pusey

William Henry Mills Pusey (born July 29, 1826 in Washington County , Pennsylvania , †  November 15, 1900 in Council Bluffs , Iowa ) was an American politician . Between 1883 and 1885 he represented the state of Iowa in the US House of Representatives .

Career

William Pusey attended Washington & Jefferson College in Washington (Pennsylvania) until 1847 . He then studied law. But he hardly worked as a lawyer. In 1856 he moved to Council Bluffs, Iowa. There he got into banking and politics. He was a member of the Democratic Party and served in the Iowa Senate from 1858 to 1862 . After that he returned to his private business.

In the 1882 congressional election, Pusey was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the ninth constituency of Iowa . There he took over from Cyrus Carpenter of the Republican Party on March 4, 1883 . But since he was defeated by the Republican Joseph Lyman in the following elections , Pusey could only complete one term in Congress until March 3, 1885 .

After the end of his time in the US House of Representatives, Pusey returned to his business interests, particularly banking in Council Bluffs. He died there on November 15, 1900.
