Benjamin Pixley Birdsall (born October 26, 1858 in Weyauwega , Waupaca County , Wisconsin , † May 26, 1917 in Clarion , Iowa ) was an American politician . Between 1903 and 1909 he represented the state of Iowa in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Benjamin Birdsall attended his homeland public schools and then attended Iowa State University in Iowa City . After studying law and being admitted to the bar in 1878, he began working in Clarion in his new profession. Between 1893 and 1900 he was a district judge in the eleventh judicial district of Iowa.

Birdsall was a member of the Republican Party . In 1902 he was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the third constituency of Iowa , where he succeeded David B. Henderson on March 4, 1903 . After two re-elections he was able to complete three consecutive terms in Congress by March 3, 1909 .

Originally, he wanted to apply for another term in 1908. But since the party competition was very strong, he withdrew his candidacy. After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Birdsall returned to work as a lawyer. He died in Clarion on May 26, 1917.
