Greg Ganske

John Greg Ganske (born March 31, 1949 in New Hampton , Chickasaw County , Iowa ) is an American politician . Between 1995 and 2003 he represented the state of Iowa in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Greg Ganske studied political science at the University of Iowa until 1972 . He then studied medicine at the same university until 1976. In the following years he worked as a plastic surgeon. From 1986 to 2001 he was also a military doctor in the US Army Reserve and ran a farm.

Politically, Ganske joined the Republican Party . In the 1994 congressional election , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , in the fourth district of Iowa . There he succeeded Neal Edward Smith of the Democratic Party on January 3, 1995 , whom he had defeated in the election. After three re-elections, Ganske was able to exercise his mandate in Congress until January 3, 2003.

In 2002 he decided not to run for the US House of Representatives again. Instead, he ran unsuccessfully against Tom Harkin for the US Senate . Greg Ganske is married to Corrine Mikkelson and now lives in Des Moines .
