Jekaterina Gennadjewna Wolkowa ( Russian Екатерина Геннадьевна Волкова , English transcription Yekaterina Volkova ) (born February 16, 1978 in Schelesnogorsk ), is a former Russian obstacle and long-distance runner .

Sports career

Wolkowa's international debut was also the debut of her favorite discipline: The 3000 meter obstacle was part of the World Championships for the first time at the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005 . In 2016, a follow-up test of Volkova's doping sample from the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing turned out positive for the substance dehydrochloromethyltestosterone . The International Olympic Committee then requested the IAAF World Athletics Federation to cancel Volkova's bronze medal . This request was granted.
